I smoke to die

Had a go at some realistic drawings a few days ago, so here's my interpretation of the character Alaska Young from the book Looking For Alaska by the infinitely talented John Green. If you've read the book, you'll understand why this is heartbreakingly sad. If you haven't, GO AND READ IT NOW. NOW.

This drawing took about an hour using only mechanical pencil and black ink for the writing, then I altered the highlights and shadows balance on Photoshop to get that particular effect.

Alaska is probably one of my all time favourite characters from any book. I'm going to be attempting to draw some of my other favourites soon (next up are Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster from the Fault in Our Stars, also by John Green).
